Steven Gendel, Ph.D. works to protect the integrity of the food supply as the senior director for food science at the Food Chemicals Codex (published by the US Pharmacopeia, an independent non-profit standards development organization). In this role, he manages a group that creates food ingredient standards and guidance documents, and collaborates with industry and governments internationally. He has more than 30 years of experience in food safety and policy, including positions at the FDA Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition, Harvard University, the University of Toronto, and Iowa State University. He has more than 90 publications and numerous presentations.

Shub Debgupta is the founder and CEO of Mesh Intelligence, an advanced data analytics company that helps food organizations predict, plan for, manage and avoid costly food safety and supply chain disruptions. Mesh uses AI, deep analytics and its proprietary supply chain database to give organizations advance warning and tools to help address issues in time and lower cost. Shub’s work on Mesh was recently featured on the New York Times, NPR and NBC News. Shub has previously worked at CEB (now Gartner), Credit Suisse and WiserTogether where he was selected as the Innovator of the Year and was a finalist for E&Y’s Entrepreneur of the Year award. Shub has a Ph.D. in economics from Cornell University.

Steven Sklare, REHS/RS, CP-FS, LEHP, is president of The Food Safety Academy (FSA), a consulting & training company. FSA addresses issues involving food safety, food fraud, sanitation. pest management and regulatory/standards compliance. Sklare has served as the director of customer engagement, Foods Program for the United States Pharmacopeia, as well as positions with other global food safety organizations such as SGS. He has spent his professional career protecting the public’s food and health. Sklare is focused on helping the food industry and the public understand the significance of food safety and food fraud issues as threats to public health, a food organization’s brand as well as a source of economic harm. Sklare’s background includes working with the foodservice/hospitality, retail food and food manufacturing as a provider of food fraud, food safety, sanitation and pest elimination consulting, training and services on a domestic and international basis. Sklare is a Registered Environmental Health Specialist, Licensed Environmental Health Practitioner, Certified Professional – Food Safety, Certified Pest Control Technician, FSPCA Lead Instructive for Preventive Controls Human Food and FSVP.

Maria has a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communications with a concentration in New Media and Visual Design, and a Minor in Fine Arts, from St. Michael’s College in Colchester, VT.
