FDA data indicates the most frequently cited observation found during a Preventive Controls inspection is an incomplete or incorrect hazard analysis. This webinar series includes valuable tips on performing and documenting a thorough hazard analysis for the initial food safety plan as well as those preparing for the reanalysis process.

Part 1 of this series begins with documenting the ingredients/raw materials and receiving step in the hazard analysis. A step by step analysis of a case study will be used to point out weaknesses and strengths of commonly used approaches.

Patricia A. Wester
AFSAP - The Association for Food Safety Auditing Professionals

An experienced veteran in food safety, Patricia Wester  has held advanced positions in both domestic and international food safety firms. She is currently president of her own consulting company, PA Wester Consulting, which allows her to utilize her experience in food safety and auditor competence as an active subject matter expert on a wide range of development projects for preventive controls and food safety auditor personnel certification schemes and training. In 2017 Wester  launched The Association for Food Safety Auditing Professionals, a member-driven association created to support and enhance the career development path for food safety auditors. She is also currently a technical auditor for ANSI in food safety. She received her bachelor of science in poultry science from the University of Florida, and has held senior management positions within the meat and poultry processing industry.

Wester is an experienced FSPCA PCQI and FSVP Instructor. She  manages the AFSAP training portfolio and is the author of “Building a (Better) Food Safety Plan”, published by Academic Press.

Maria has more than a decade of experience in journalism, marketing, and communications within the publishing, conferences and medical device industry. She has authored more than 250 articles that have appeared in domestic and international industry publications and has moderated educational sessions and panel discussions at industry events. Maria joins Innovative Publishing from Secant Medical, Inc., where she was the Marketing Communications Manager and Market Research Manager. Maria has a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communications with a concentration in New Media and Visual Design, and a Minor in Fine Arts, from St. Michael’s College in Colchester, VT.
