Mickey Parish, PhD
Senior Science Advisor
FDA Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition
Mickey Parish, PhD is the senior science advisor at FDA’s Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition. In this role, he oversees the overall CFSAN research portfolio and addresses issues related to science and research policy. In his previous position at FDA, Parish was the senior advisor for microbiology in the CFSAN Office of Food Safety and provided technical support for food safety policy development and implementation, and participated in outbreak and recall investigations. Prior to coming to FDA, Parish was a career academician first on the faculty at the University of Florida and later as professor and department chair in the University of Maryland’s Department of Nutrition and Food Science. Parish is active in his profession and is currently the President of the International Association for Food Protection. He has a PhD in food science from North Carolina State University, a Master’s degree in food science from the University of Florida, and BS in Biology from Florida State University.

Maria has more than a decade of experience in journalism, marketing, and communications within the publishing, conferences and medical device industry. She has authored more than 250 articles that have appeared in domestic and international industry publications and has moderated educational sessions and panel discussions at industry events. Maria joins Innovative Publishing from Secant Medical, Inc., where she was the Marketing Communications Manager and Market Research Manager. Maria has a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communications with a concentration in New Media and Visual Design, and a Minor in Fine Arts, from St. Michael’s College in Colchester, VT.

With over 16 years of experience, Jessica began her career in a Food Analysis Laboratory and has since held various roles in Quality Assurance and Food Safety in the Food Manufacturing Industry.

Tim Freier is the Vice President, Scientific Affairs and Microbiology, North America at Mérieux NutriSciences. He has over 25 years of experience working in various food safety and quality related positions in food facilities and in the microbiology lab. Tim has worked extensively in the area of pathogen environmental monitoring and exploring and implementing new food safety technologies.
Kevin Lorcheim

Kevin Lorcheim currently heads ClorDiSys’ food safety group focusing on improving sanitation and risk management practices and works with other industry types for advanced contamination control strategies. His experience spans a wide range of industries, including food, pharmaceutical, life sciences, healthcare and government research. A graduate of Rutgers University, with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical and aerospace engineering, Lorcheim has held a variety of roles at ClorDiSys, from product development to decontamination team leader. As national account manager, his overall focus is to assist companies with contamination control and prevention in order to limit their risks and liabilities.

Dr. Andreas Bubert
Andreas Bubert is the Senior Global Product Manager, Culture Media at Merck KGaA. He has over 19 years of experience working in food and beverages industry in various positions, including R&D including rapid test development for food pathogens, e.g. Listeria, Salmonella. He also hasa experience in Global segment marketing microbioloogy with food and beverages and Product management rapid tests and cluture media . Andreas has a PhD in molecular microbiology.

Matthew Lawless
Matthew Lawless completed his Ph.D. in chemical quantum mechanics at the University of Pittsburgh. As a spectroscopist, during this time he studied protein structure and function using electron paramagnetic resonance. Matthew accepted a position at Romer Labs USA during the tail end of his graduate studies, and started working as the North American allergen technical support specialist immediately after graduation in January 2018.
