Most manufacturers outsource their pest management program as a way to reduce costs. While this will continue to be standard, manufacturers do not enjoy the same transparency or presence as they did in the past, when most programs were managed in-house. You certainly trust that the job is being done well, but with limited in-house pest management expertise, it can be hard to know if there are potential gaps or "blind spots" in the program that can put you at risk. Joe Barile is the Technical Service Lead for Bayer’s Pest Management & Public Health business within the company’s Environmental Science division. He provides technical and training support internally to Bayer staff and externally to customers such as Pest Management Professionals and public vector control agencies. He has been involved in urban and public health pest management for 40 years, holding positions with major IPM product manufacturers, in public mosquito control, as a university extension entomologist, as a pest control technician and as the technical director of a multi-branch pest control firm.
Joe holds a degree in Entomology from the University of Massachusetts, is a member of both the Entomological Society of America and the American Mosquito Control Association, and he is a Board Certified Entomologist.

Kristie Grzywinski is responsible for delivering education solutions for SQF professionals, including SQF practitioners, consultants and auditors in support of SQF Institute’s globally recognized food safety and quality management standard.
Ms. Grzywinski has made a career of training and education in the foodservice and food manufacturing industries, including the National Restaurant Association’s ServSafe® training program and Mérieux NutriSciences public and custom training courses. She is a passionate member of the Association for Women in Science and mentor to future food safety professionals with the International Association for Food Protection.

Maria has more than a decade of experience in journalism, marketing, and communications within the publishing, conferences and medical device industry. She has authored more than 250 articles that have appeared in domestic and international industry publications and has moderated educational sessions and panel discussions at industry events.
